MUTUAL BANK CELEBRATES 33 YEARS IN CARVER

Mutual Bank Carver contest yields $1,000 for town's "All For Fun, Fun For All" Elementary School Playground Fund benefit

There were two big winners in the recent Mutual Bank contest, held to commemorate the Bank's 33 years in Carver: The Carver Elementary School Playground Fund and Middleboro resident Priscilla Przygoda.

Mutual Bank kicked off a contest in January, to benefit Carver's "All For Fun, Fun For All" Elementary School playground. Visitors to the Carver branch at 74 Main Street over the past eight weeks took turns guessing how many golf tees were in the big Crystal Box in the lobby.

Priscilla Przygoda's guess of 12,100 golf tees was the closest to the actual number of 12,194, so she won $100. "I was so excited when I got the call that I had won! ", said Priscilla.

And, as part of the contest, Mutual Bank contributed $3 for every guess, resulting in a contribution of $1,000 to the Carver Elementary School Playground Fund. Carol Spiewakowski, an organizer of the fundraising effort, thanked the bank. "This money will go towards new access paths at the playground. The contest has given the Fund a boost of visibility, and we plan to keep it going with a more events this Spring."

Kristine Vecchi, Manager of Mutual Bank in Carver, said that the contest was something that the community appeared to thoroughly enjoy. "We had guesses 'all over the map' as to the number of tees, some thinking less than 1000 and some much, much higher, and of course a few very close to the actual number. We are so pleased at the enthusiastic feedback that we have received from the community who endorsed our support for the playground fund, and the goals of the "All For Fun, Fun For All" group. We thank the people of Carver for getting behind this project."

"All For Fun, Fun For All" Carver Elementary School Playground Fund is a grassroots group of parents and teachers working to make the playground more fun and inclusive for all Carver kids, as well as handicapped accessible. For more information, to donate, or to volunteer, call 508-866-4232.
