Mutual Bank tallies up the count for Carver Elementary School "Pennies for Peace" program

WHITMAN, MA, ISSUED JANUARY 5, 2010… Carver Elementary School students visited the Plymouth branch of Mutual Bank on January 5 and made good use of the location's coin counting machine to tally up pennies collected over the past several months as part of the school's annual "Pennies for Peace" program.

"Pennies for Peace" is an international service-learning program inspired by the New York Times bestseller "Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace, One School at a Time". Students learn the rewards of sharing and working together to bring hope and education opportunities to children in war-torn countries.

"Mutual Bank has a long history of working closely with community schools and we were delighted to offer the Bank's services once again," said Leanne Allegrini Vice President of Operations at Mutual Bank.

"Inviting the students into the Plymouth branch with their bags of coins and applauding them for their philanthropic gesture was the Bank's way of showing them how much their hard efforts are appreciated and how every penny counts," said Allegrini, a Carver resident who is actively involved within the Carver school system.
