Mutual Bank introduces IOLTA Checking to line of business services
ISSUED FEBRUARY 4, 2009 - Mutual Bank, a community bank with nine branches throughout Southeastern Massachusetts, announces that it has added IOLTA (Interest on Lawyers' Trust Account) Checking to its expanding line of business banking services.
The client escrow account for law firms imposes no cost, tax liability or administrative burden. Accounts are automatically reconciled and interest earned is sent to the Massachusetts IOLTA Committee by the Bank. Interest is used to improve the justice system and help provide legal services to low-income clients throughout the State.
Mutual Bank IOLTA Checking Accounts offer free personalized checks; competitive interest rates; no minimum balance or per-check charges; and no monthly maintenance fees.
"The law firms that bank with us can feel proud that they are contributing more to the well-being of our state's legal assistance programs," said Christopher Dickinson, Business Development Officer for Mutual Bank.
