Samuel A. Read, Jr. Re-elected A Director of Mutual Bank

WHITMAN AND MASHPEE, MA, ISSUED May 10, 2010… Samuel A. Read of Mashpee has been re-elected to a new three-year term as a Director of Mutual Bank, it was today announced by Glen S. White, Mutual Bank Chief Executive Officer.

In this role, he will help guide the policy and direction for the mutually-owned bank.

Read, who lived in West Bridgewater before moving to Mashpee seven years ago, was first elected to the Board of Directors of Security Federal Savings Bank in 1978. After serving 28 years as a director of that Brockton-based mutual institution, he helped oversee the transition when it merged with Mutual Bank in 2006. He also serves as a member of the Board's Executive Committee.

A retired manager with Eastern Edison, Read studied mechanical design at Wentworth Institute of Technology, and earned a degree in electrical engineering at Northeastern University. He served with the Massachusetts Air National Guard reserve, and was activated and sent to France during the Berlin Crisis of 1961, where he performed electrical maintenance on F86 jet fighter aircraft.

Read is a past president of the Brockton Kiwanis Club. He enjoys kayaking, hiking, and spending time with his wife, Joan, their four children and seven grandchildren, the oldest of which is a junior at Holy Cross College.
