Mutual Bank offers Saftler's five month extension on lease

Mutual Bank has reached an agreement with the owner of Saftler's of Whitman that will allow the retailer to remain at its current location at 342 Bedford Street through April 2011.

Mutual Bank acquired the 4.9-acre property on Route 18 through foreclosure in November. Bank officials say they intend to redevelop the site and are currently studying the best use for it.

CEO Glen White said, "When we learned that Mr. Saftler wanted to stay for a while longer to allow him a chance to relocate the business, we once again contacted him about how we might make an arrangement of that sort work." He continued, "We agreed with the terms that he presented to us, and we are pleased to announce that we have an agreement in place."
