Mutual Bank celebrates 33 years in Carver; event to benefit "All For Fun, Fun For All" Carver Elementary School Playground Fund
WHITMAN AND CARVER, MA, ISSUED JANUARY 17, 2012…Mutual Bank is celebrating an important milestone: 33 years since the Bank opened the doors of its Carver branch to serve the Carver community. To mark the occasion, the bank is sponsoring a contest to benefit the Carver Elementary School playground.
Visitors to the Carver branch at 74 Main Street will see a big "Crystal Box" full to the brim with golf tees, and the bank has challenged Carver residents to come in and guess the number of tees in the box. The contest begins Friday, January 20.
The person whose guess is closest to the actual number will win a $100 prize; and, for every guess, Mutual Bank will donate $3 to the "All for Fun, Fun for All" Carver Elementary School Playground Fund. A copy of the contest rules can be seen at the Carver branch or on the web at MyMutualBank.com/celebrate-carver.
Glen S. White, CEO of Mutual Bank, said, "When we first opened our doors in Carver 33 years ago, you could buy a nice house here for less than $60,000, and we helped many young Carver families do just that. Those families have grown, their mortgages have long since been paid off, and we're still here, helping the next generation realize their dreams and aspirations." He continued, "Mutual Bank is, and always has been, a community bank. Our mission is to serve the needs of families and businesses in small communities like Carver, and our own success mirrors that of the people we serve. Through good times and bad, our Carver office has steadily grown to ten times its original size by sticking to that business philosophy," he continued. "Over the years, we have added innovative services like Totally Free Checking, Mobile Banking and Online Bill Pay to our product line. But the bedrock value we offer customers has not changed in 33 years: sound financial advice, security for their hard-earned money, and help when they need it, to buy a house or build a business. In fact, we have money to lend right now, and we are ready to put it to work in Carver for deserving families and businesses, including those who might have been turned down by larger banks, or by banks who have left town. We're proud of our deep Carver roots, and we anticipate they will support many more years of growth here."
Over its 33 year history in Carver, the Bank has been at three different locations. The first branch was located at the end of the Cedar Spring Plaza, across the street from its current location at 74 Main Street. The Bank then relocated in 1984 to Sedell Plaza. The Bank built and moved into its current branch in April 2001. At that time, the President of the Bank was David Cogan, who continues to serve as a Director. At the opening of the new facility, he had noted that the Bank doubled its drive-up teller capacity, added 24-hour ATM service, and night drop service for business customers.
"All For Fun, Fun For All" Carver Elementary School Playground Fund is a grassroots group of parents and teachers working to make the playground more fun and inclusive for all Carver kids, as well as handicapped accessible. For more information, to donate, or to volunteer, call 508-866-4232.
