In this role, he will help guide policy and direction for the 117-year old, 4-branch independently-owned savings bank. As part of his duties, he also serves on the bank’s Compensation Committee.
Dr. Welch grew up in Whitman, where his father was a physician. Following graduation from Thayer Academy, he earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Vermont, including a Master’s Degree in biochemistry. His early work in the field of medicine included the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology. He earned his DMD from Tufts University through a public health scholarship. Following graduation, he worked in the public service sector for six years, providing dentistry at the Dorchester House Multi Service Center.
In 1986 he purchased an existing dental practice in East Bridgewater. He has practiced at that same location, 567 North Bedford Street, Route 18, since that time. Dr. Welch is a member of the Massachusetts Dental Society and the American Dental Association, and OKU, which is a Dental Honor Society. He resides in Hanson with his wife Kathleen and three sons, Kevin, Korey and Colin. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, skiing and tennis.
