Mutual Federal Savings Bank to change name to “Mutual Bank;” new name for 117-year old institution to take effect in June

WHITMAN, MA, ISSUED May 8, 2006. Mutual Federal Savings Bank, a leading independent community bank with branches in Whitman, Halifax, Carver and Hanson, will do business under a new name effective June 5, 2006.

Mutual Federal Savings Bank President/CEO Glen S. White and the bank’s Board of Directors today announced that the bank’s name will become “Mutual Bank.” White described the change as another positive step in the bank’s evolution, saying that the new name “reflects more accurately what we do.”

He said, "Our new name reflects our expanded mission to operate as a full-service bank, providing a full range of consumer and small business banking services to our market area." To that end, White said that the bank is looking to expand its footprint in Plymouth County and hopes to open another location within the next year. He said that the bank will also dedicate additional energies and resources to the needs of its small business customers throughout its service area.

White said, "This new name does not affect the organization or the mission of this institution which has served the region for more than 100 years," adding, "Mutual Bank will continue to be locally owned and operate as a mutual bank."

Mutual Federal Savings Bank commissioned Forge Inc. of Waltham to redesign their logo and lead the new branding effort. The bank’s current website, www.mutualfederal.com, will remain in effect, and a new address, www.MyMutualBank.com will be added, A redesigned site will be launched later in the year.

In recent years, the bank has expanded and built new banking facilities in its service areas of Carver, Halifax, and Hanson, and installed two drive-up ATMs. Currently, the last phase of remodeling is underway at the flagship office in Whitman Center. White said that the bank has introduced a number of new products and services, including free checking, mortgages and home equity financing, online banking, Visa Check Cards, and small business banking. Consumer depositors enjoy full FDIC insurance protection with new, expanded coverage maximums for retirement savings.

White said, "Many changes have been made since the bank first opened its doors in 1889. With each change, one goal has been uppermost in our minds – to better serve our customer. And, as we launch this next phase of our evolution, we sincerely thank our customers for being an essential part of our growth and change.
