Mutual Bank opens Middleboro branch June 4; marks eighth location in Southeastern Massachusetts

WHITMAN AND MIDDLEBORO, MA, ISSUED JUNE 1, 2007…Mutual Bank, a leading independent community bank with branches in Whitman, Brockton, Falmouth, Halifax, Carver and Hanson, officially opens its eighth location June 4.

The newest Mutual Bank branch is in Middleboro. The 3,000 square foot location is at 438 West Grove Street (adjacent to the Stop & Shop). Formerly the site of the Red Cross donor center, the Bank has caught the attention of many local residents as they have watched the grey building be transformed with architectural detail and a fresh coat of paint in bright yellow and deep green.

Dewey A. Nichols, AIA, of NicholsArchitects, LLC, oversaw a total renovation of the building interior, as well as important architectural enhancements on the exterior. He said, "My mission was to reflect the Bank's personality in the new bank: rooted in tradition, but focused on the present and the future, and ready to change with the times. I wanted to capture the energy and optimism that Glen White and his team exude. I used strong color and line, and a sweeping, circular floor plan to project that dynamic quality I saw in them." He added, “We worked with Mutual Bank to design a banking facility that is focused on a personal banking experience where Mutual customers have a one-on-one experience with their banker, and are treated as respected clients  where privacy and a personal connection are of utmost concern."

Glen S. White, CEO of Mutual Bank, said that the Middleboro location will strengthen the bank’s presence in Southeastern Massachusetts, and that the Middleboro branch will offer all the services that Mutual Bank provides at other locations. In addition, a new service is making its debut at the branch: An "i-bank" in the lobby will give customers self-service access to online banking, bill payment, account statements, and the bank's website, MyMutualBank.com. If the service proves popular, i-banks will be rolled out to more Mutual Bank locations.

The bank will host an Open House Saturday, June 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the facility to greet the public.

Thomas J. Pratt of Middleboro will serve as Branch Manager in the new location. Tom is already well known in local circles, having been born and raised in town. More than a few Middleboro residents are already Tom's customers, and will move with him from Mutual's Halifax office, where he has been co-manager.

Mutual Bank has eight branches with the opening of Middleboro and total assets of approximately $260 million.
