WHITMAN AND BROCKTON, MA, ISSUED SEPTEMBER 28, 2007…Four hundred U.S. Army enlistees will find it a little easier to “call home” during their basic training, thanks to a donation by Mutual Bank to the U.S. Army Recruiting Station in Brockton.
Mutual Bank, a community bank which has eight full service offices in Southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod, this week presented 400 prepaid phone cards, each with a value of 250 minutes, to the U.S. Army Recruiting Station at 165 Westgate Drive, Brockton. Sergeant First Class Steven Gainey, who leads the Brockton Army Recruiting Station, said that the cards will be brought to the Boston Military Processing Center and handed out to enlistees, which is where they report before heading out for basic training.
The phone card donation was coordinated through Mutual Bank’s Brockton location at 777 Belmont Street. Dalia Cardoso, Branch Manager of the Mutual Bank Brockton location, coordinated the effort. “Mutual Bank is honored to be given the opportunity, to make it a little easier for these soldiers, who are far away from home to communicate with their families,” she said.
Sergeant Gainey said, “We are very grateful to Mutual Bank for providing these cards for our soldiers. We always advise new recruits to bring prepaid cards with them to make their calls back to home a little easier, and this will be a tremendous help.”
In all, the prepaid cards carry a value of approximately $4000.
