Privacy Policy
Protecting Your Privacy
Protecting customer privacy is important to Mutual Bank, because we recognize that it is important to you, our customer. To that end, we adhere to a set of policies and procedures that we believe are good business practice, and will serve the interests of our customers in effective privacy protection. In this Notice we tell you about the types and general uses of information we collect, and we will provide additional explanation if customers request it. In the event you terminate your customer relationship with us, we will continue to adhere to the policies and practices described here.
Information We Collect
We collect, retain, and use nonpublic personal information about individuals necessary to enroll them as customers, to provide the services they have selected, to administer their accounts and to offer them additional or related products and services. We also use this information to provide positive identification of customers when they contact us.
We may collect personal information from such sources as: applications or other forms; records of your transactions with us or others; and information we receive from a consumer reporting agency, such as a credit bureau.
Our system records customers' banking transactions so that we may process, confirm, and report these on scheduled statements or upon customer request. Some of this information is also handled by our service providers (for example, one provider needs specific data to process electronic bill payments.)
We may also use information from other companies and public sources, such as census data, so that we can notify customers of service offers that may interest them. All offers are carefully developed and the lists used to send offers are managed under strict conditions designed to safeguard the security and privacy of customer information.
Information We Share
We do not disclose nonpublic personal information about you to nonaffiliated third parties, except to provide account services as permitted by law. When, in the course of conducting our business, we provide such information to an operating partner, reporting agency, or other third party, we require strict contractual obligations to assure that they continue to protect the security and accuracy of the information, and use it only for the purposes we intend.
Uses of Shared Information
We exchange nonpublic personal information about our customers and former customers with nonaffiliated third parties, only to the extent permitted by law, for the following uses:
- To service your account (For example, we employ a data processor, Connecticut Online Computer Corporation.)
- To report to consumer reporting agencies (For example, we obtain credit reports from the credit bureau Experian to help us make loan decisions, and may share our borrowers' transaction history with the bureau.)
- To offer you products and services (For example, we may employ the services of a direct mail marketing firm to notify customers of a special offer or important notice, such as this one.) However, we never disclose account numbers or access codes (for example, PINs) to any third party for marketing purposes.
- To respond to a customer's request or permission to release the information (for example, you list us as a reference on a loan application)
- To comply with federal, state, or local laws and regulations (for example, court order or investigation of fraud).
- To conduct other financial services related activities that may arise.
In every case, we apply due diligence to carefully select third party providers that are reputable, demonstrably competent, and who adhere to high standards of information security.
How We Protect Your Information
Mutual Bank maintains physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to protect nonpublic personal information about you and your accounts. We educate our employees about the importance of confidentiality and customer privacy.
