Mutual Online is designed with security as a dynamic feature of the product, not an after-thought or add-on. Multi-layered safeguards enhance security and privacy throughout the process. Customers may access only their own account information by logging in with two pieces of authentication information, including a fully encrypted password. Mutual Online requires the highest encryption on the user's browser (currently 128-bit) before allowing an individual to access secured screens on our web server.

Controls are updated as required, based on emerging technologies. Beyond internal audits and reviews, an independent audit of controls and testing of operating effectiveness is conducted annually by the accounting firm of Ernst & Young. Information security and customer privacy systems, policies, and procedures (on the internet and otherwise) are examined onsite at regular intervals by the U.S. Office of Thrift Supervision and by the FDIC.
